How to get out of fetal pig dissection in an online anatomy class- vegetarian?
I am taking an online anatomy class through my school. I had to order a special lab kit. My lab kit arrived today. It contained a sheep eye, sheep brain, and a fetal pig. I had a feeling these items would be coming. First, I have no idea where I am supposed to store this items until I use them in class. The more pressing issue however is that I am a vegetarian and do not support the meat industry. I’m having a hard time rationalizing how I am going to dissect the thing. Do you think my professor would accept that I follow a plant based diet and give me an alternate assignment? Does anyone have any experience with this situation? The reason I am having a hard time with it is because the class is online and my professor is located in a different city, so I will never meet her.
this is for a college class. it’s actually for my second degree. i can see how some experience with ‘parts’ may be educational, but what i was looking for was alternatives. i will email my prof and let her know my situation. thanks!
if the fetal pig has come from the stomach of a slaughtered sow, then yes it does have to do with the meat industry.

Contact your professor & fill her in on your situation. I’m sure there is some suitable alternative. Dissection of a fetal pig was a requirement for my high school biology class almost 20 years ago, and there was a computer course for the assignment that was offered for those opposed or with weak stomachs, religious beliefs, etc. Which I took instead, so I’m sure there is something even more comprehensive now, especially if it’s a college course. If she doesn’t/won’t offer you an alternative, then personally, if I were you, I’d rather take a failing grade, but that’s your decision to make. I would first look into laws regarding the situation in the state where the online course is offered and also in your state if it’s not the same, & then take action from there.

I want to hold a class online- i want the students to see me teaching anatomy. How can i?
So there will be some students here in Vancouver. Some will be joining us from all over the province. I want to be seen teaching the anatomy by all at home. I might also like to show images from my computer. I may also like to record it to post it for students who missed the class. Please help. I run a mac- but the software so far says it only works with PC. Thanks.

Well, I 'm going to be diffeent. I'm going to stick my neck out and say that this guy asked a pretty valid and lawful question.
So, if white sex slavery does exists in Israel, why not question that too ?
It did cross my mind when I read this thing about pakis and the grooming of white girls that this is being PUBLICISED only to manipulate public opinion.
I for one did not know Jack Straw was Jewish but now that I know, it started things rolling in my mind…. it sort of explains why Tony Blair, the minute he stops being UK's prime minister is IMMEDIATELy appointed the West's envoy (or whatever they call it) to…. Israel ?! Could it be that Tony Blair is also Jewish ? I don't know.
I do not condone the grooming of any girls for sex, white or yellow and anyone who does that deserves being castrated but I butted in only because I thought this guy asks a pretty valid question that did not deserve the oversize reactions that he received from some people.
By the way I am not Muslim. I am European, I am white, blond hair and blue eyed and Christian.
These question can and should be asked. It is NOT anti anything to… to think, to deduce and to conclude…. or is it ??!!!
And please do not come and call me nazi or anti-semite…. Democracy and Freedom of Speech works both ways… not just to be used if and when it is convenient.

Hehe. That one made me think, because if they use the same way of “finding/discovering” evidence for the conspiracy’s as the use on their God, it would create alot of theorys that are “suddenly true” because the “feel it”.
