Human Anatomy & physiology: quiz — Help me?
Please help me with these few, you nice people.

thymus gland
tonsils
spleen
lymph nodes
2. (12). Circulating red blood cells:
contain a nucleus

contain 30% of the body’s hemoglobin
clot the blood to prevent its loss
3. (13). How is oxygen carried through the blood stream?
dissolved in plasma
on receptors on the red blood cell membrane
as an amino acid
on the iron portion of the hemoglobin molecule
4. (16). Identify the cell related to the manufacture of antibodies:
plasma cells
suppressor cells
lymphocytes
thrombocytes
5. (17): In order to form filtrate, blood flows from the glomeruli into:
Bowman’s capsule
the arcuate artery
a proximal convoluted tubule
the renal pyramids
The parentheses’ are only there to help me remember what questions I asked. :d just so you know.
admin answers:
The other nice folks already provided answers, but as a med school faculty member, I just wanted to say something else, please take this as constructive advice, I am really not trying to be a jerk.
Even open-book, take-home quizzes typically have some kind of honor code, which would preclude asking other people for help? Even if not, it defeats the point if you just ask for answers without any explanation. Sure you might get a higher score on *this* quiz, but what happens when you have to take a closed-book test later? The point of quizzes is to force you to learn the material, and even more importantly, how to find the answers on your own. If one day you’re a scientist or physician and have a more difficult problem to solve, Yahoo!Answers probably won’t be there for you.
Cheers,
Jolo

Chris asks…
Anatomy & Physiology Questions…?
Making corrections on a quiz. I missed 3 and made an 89.
Might as well make it up for an A.
A membrane or gap junction is NOT:
A. used to pass nutrients and water into a cells’ cytoplasm
B. found between adjacent cells
C. often fused tightly
D. used to prevent the cells from being pulled apart under normal conditions of wear and tear.
I answered “D” but apparently it was wrong.
Somatic cell division includes all of the following EXCEPT:
A. DNA replication
B. Production of mitotic spingle
C. Production of two haploid cells
D. Production of one diploid cell
Many ____________ in the human body can _______ an electrical charge.
A. metals; produce
B. metals; carry
C. non-metals; terminate
D. non-metals; neutralize
admin answers:
For the first question , Gap junctions are not used to pass nutrients and water into cells cytoplasm, water goes by osmosis, nutrients enters through channels either ATP dependent (active) or passive diffusion therefore you should have picked option (A)
The next one :- During somatic division Diploid cells (46 chromosomes) are supposed to be produced it is only in Sexual reproduction that haploid cells are produced (23 chromosomes) so you should pick option (C)
The last one:- in the human body electrical charges are transported in form of action potential which are initiated by Na+ influx and K+ efflux. So both sodium and potassium are metals so many metals in the human body can carry an electrical charge option (B) PS–it seems it is kindly related to your current lessons but i have used my general knowledge.

Donna asks…
What is wrong with me? I’ve failed almost every math & science course in college?
I wanted to get a degree in Echocardiography but I had to take an algebra class 3X before I passed it and I’ve taken Human Biology and Human Anatomy & Physiology 5-7 times and cannot pass it with a 3.0 (that’s the requirement to get into a program). What’s wrong with me? I’ve tried just about every study tactic: groups, alone, with just a couple people, reading notes, reading the entire book and notes, making note cards to quiz myself with, tutoring all the time, tutoring some of the time and I JUST CAN’T GET IT. What is wrong with me? Why would someone be THIS BAD at science? It’s keeping me from achieving my goals and dreams. What would you do? Do I have a learning disability or am I just stupid?
admin answers:
Before trying again, I would agree with Angela that you should be tested for learning disabilities. It doesn’t make sense to keep butting your head against the same wall without any change in approach. If you have a disability, you will learn how to compensate for it. If not, you will know that maybe your goals were not the most realistic ones for you.
Different people have different strengths and weaknesses. You obviously have a strength that will serve you well in your persistence, but science just may not be something you ever get. If I were you, I would go to the career center at your college and look into other possibilities. Look, I have 4 college degrees, and I’m sure there are things I couldn’t do at all. You may have hitched your future to the one area you just aren’t terribly good at. I’m sure there are plenty of others at which you would be spectacular.

Ken asks…
How do you study?
I am finding that I am reading, quizzing myself, making flash cards, taking notes and playing computer games for my Human Anatomy and Physiology class but I am still not getting the best grades on my exams. I know this is probably my hardest course of my college career, but what am I doing wrong while studying? I study in a well lit room with no distractions (no other people, music, tv, computer etc) and go over and over my materials, but like I said I feel like I am putting in the time and effort to get atleast 90% on my exams but I got a 70% on my last one….what would you do???? Or what do you do????
admin answers:
It may not be that you don’t know the subject matter but because you are not answering the questions correctly. Maybe you are answering more than you should or less than you should. Try to get an idea of what the questioner is asking for and then answer accordingly. You may also be suffering from exam panic that arises out of stress and expectations.
I used to have the same problem. Now I read the question very thoroughly and give an answer to the point. I also try to relax while taking the exam.

Linda asks…
Anyone know of a good website………..?
to help me study for Animal Anatomy and Physiology??
(ANIMAL, not human)
Especially an interactive type that could quiz me?
I know that’s not a common subject, but hopefully someone can help me! Midterm is next week and we were never given study guides or review questions or anything.. I’m kinda freaking out.
Thanks in advance!
